Weekly Ramblings (4)

I have the tickets!!
(well a piece of cardboard that will turn into tickets on the day,,)

And I will be off to see this very soon, as soon as there is a time that does not conflict with work or life.
I can not wait!
I am currently rereading the first book to remind myself exactly what happens before I go see it. I must admit that I did indeed forget about all the events in this book apart from the first chapter! It was three years since I read the book, but still I should remember more than that!

But anyway when I've seen it hopefully I will have for you a short review of the movie and the book.

Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden.  Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

White Hot Kiss

One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Waiting On Wednesday: Page Morgan - The Lovely and the Lost

A weekly meme brought to you by Breaking The Spine where we get to show off some of the books we are waiting to be released.

This week I am waiting for The Lovely and the Lost by Page Morgan, book 2 in her Dispossessed book

Ingrid and Gabby survived the Underneath. They saved their brother, Grayson, from a future of dark servitude and exposed a plot to undermine the Alliance. But danger still lurks in the streets of Paris, and the Dispossessed, perched on the city's bridges and rooftops, might not be able to save their human wards this time

Why am I waiting?
I fell in love with the cover of The Beautiful And The Cursed and cannot wait to read this series, I only hope the books writing and story is as capturing as their covers.

What are you waiting for this week?

March New Releases 2014

Here are just a few of the books being released this month. The books that I have selected have either been on my to read list since I heard about them, are from authors that I've previously read or they've had only good reviews from fellow blogsvillians.

What are you excited for this month?
Did I miss some that should be added to my own list?

The Fault in Our Stars - John Green

Title:           The Fault In Our Stars
Author:       John Green

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Ok now that I have stopped crying and don't tear up anytime I think of this book I think I might be able to get through writing a review.

OK ok, where to start? I had an idea of what this book was about before I read it. I've seen this book and it's reviews floating around blogville for quite a while now. I knew it was going to be sad, that I'd need a box of tissues to get through it. I knew it was about teens with cancer and that I shouldn't get attached to the characters, but of course I did! because John Green knew what he was doing when he wrote this book. Hazel and Augustus are going to be with me forever.

“I'm a grenade and at some point I'm going to blow up and I would like to minimize the casualties, okay?”

So I gave in to reading this book because it was everywhere, and I am glad I did, it is a sad but heartwarming story of teenage love and life. Hazel is prompted by her mother to attend a Cancer support group for children because her mother thinks she's depressed so she concedes and winds up meeting Augustus Waters who becomes more to Hazel than she would like to admit to because of her cancer.

You can't help but like the characters in this book, from our main characters or trophy smashing egg throwing Isaac and even Lidewij Vliegenthat. Each is given a role to remember and to attach to.

I liked the way this was written, easy to read and connect to, although, well I never used this level of intellect when talking with my friends when I was a teenager, or even now that I am older, does anybody really speak like this?

“You are so busy being YOU that you have no idea how utterly unprecedented you are.”

Oh there are many more lines to quote. All very advanced, big words and all.

But overall it was a fantastic read that I would recommend everyone read (I've already made one person read it, I'll get you too)

And incase you did't know this book has been made into a movie that will be in cinemas on June 5th in Australia. With Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodly as Augustus and Hazel.

That leaves everyone plenty of time to restock the tissues!
